Motherwell beat Celtic, Saints leapfrog Hearts - Scottish Premier ...

Motherwell beat leaders Celtic 2-1 at Fir Park on Wednesday night to move up to second place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Chris Humphrey gave Stuart McCall's men a half-time lead and Michael Higdon grabbed the winner in 73 minutes after Georgios Samaras had equalised for the visitors.

St Mirren were the only other winners on Wednesday, leapfrogging Hearts into 10th place with a 2-0 win in Paisley. Paul McGowan converted an early penalty and Saints sealed the points with a stunning strike from Graham Carey at the end of the first half.

Bottom club Dundee grabbed a last-minute leveller to earn a 2-2 draw with St Johnstone at Dens Park despite being down to 10 men for the final quarter after Declan Gallagher was sent off. John Baird cancelled out Steven MacLean's opener and Mark Stewart struck at the end after Dave Mackay looked to have earned Saints an important away victory.

There was a dramatic finish at Easter Road where Hibernian and Kilmarnock drew 2-2, with three goals in the last five minutes. Sammy Clingan fired Killie ahead just after half-time but Ryan McGivern equalised. Jude Winchester restored Kilmarnock's lead then Leigh Griffiths levelled.
