Sun Apr 14, 2013 6:21pm BST LONDON (Reuters) - Goals from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero sent Manchester City in to an Cup closing against Wigan Athletic after they beat holders Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley on Sunday. The 2011 winners will return on Might 11 when they kept off a powerful fightback from a Chelsea side playing their sixth game in 16 days. Frenchman Nasri offered City, who also beat Chelsea to get the season-opening Community Shield, a lead they significantly more than earned when he dismissed house after 35 minutes and a second two minutes were headed by Argentine Aguero into the second half. Demba Ba's acrobatic volley on 65 minutes impressed a Chelsea rebirth but City kept their nerve. "For a little while it was too relaxed, it was a wake-up call," City chief Vincent Kompany informed ITV of Ba's goal. "The message is big, a lot of times it is you against your man and you never understand what can happen. "But ultimately I thought we defended very well and when it mattered we did a great work and we were there. "We never doubted in regards to the fact that we desired to win trophies, this was an important game and the absolute most important game will probably function as the final against Wigan, that's what we are looking forward too." Leading League strugglers Wigan overcame Championship (2nd section) Millwall 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday in a fit marred by fighting one of the London club's supporters. City set the tone for a principal opening half when Petr Cech clawed absent Aguero's early work from close range and Chelsea, with only two days full rest after their Europa League trip to Moscow, absorbed almost constant pressure. Kompany's goalline header to stop Eden Hazard from rating did get City off the land and they made probably the most of the letoff and went forward when Chelsea, perhaps not for initially, allowed Yaya Toure to run at them. The Ivorian, the principal figure in midfield for City, played an exact cross to Aguero's feet and his layoff bobbled off Cesar Azpilicueta and fell for Nasri to lash house. Kompany should have included another from a lightning attack but City rammed house their supremacy two minutes after the break when Aguero met Gareth Barry's mix with a header that went in off the post. Chelsea, FA Cup winners in four of the past six periods, got a lifeline when Ba made to fire house after change Fernando Torres, moments after coming on, had unsettled City's backline enough to force a messy approval. It was the initial purpose City have admitted in a only smart stop and your competition from owner Costel Pantilimon denied Senegal forward Ba an equaliser. Chelsea pressed strongly in the closing phases nevertheless now only have the Europa League for an opportunity of silverware this season. (Editing by Ed Osmond)
