Manchester City's assistant manager Brian Kidd has dismissed talk that the title race is over and insists the club can still overhaul Manchester United and retain the league crown.
The unlikely comments come ahead of a week that could see United claim the Premier League trophy, with a win over Aston Villa set to be enough if City lose to Tottenham.
But despite the fact that they are 13 points behind in the battle for top spot, and are aware that the race could be over within days, assistant boss Kidd believes City should still go on fighting.
'This time last year everybody said it was all over. Nobody thought Manchester United would drop eight points in six games,' said Kidd.
'It sounds daft but this could turn out a great season for Manchester City – we could win the league and the FA Cup.'
Kidd, who won the league five times while working across Manchester under Sir Alex Ferguson, said he is not alone in thinking the race is not over – adding that Roberto Mancini, despite saying he had given up, still believes they could claw back ground.
