Fit and miss: Manchester City will not risk David Silva against Wigan.. but ... - Mirror.co.uk

PLUS: Blues coach David Platt insists he was 'not surprised' that Sergio Aguero escaped punishment for his tackle on David Luiz

Silva missed City's FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury in the Manchester derby on April 8.??

Although Silva is recovering well, the Blues first-team coach Platt said he was unlikely to be risked in tomorrow's Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium.??

"Sunday's game was a bit too early for David," said Platt. "If we'd pushed, we probably could have got him ready for tomorrow. But it would still be a risk.??

"We'll see how he feels today but we'll probably be pragmatic about it and let him get a full week's training under his belt before the weekend.??

"Had the game at the weekend been the last game of the season we might have taken a risk, but it would be a big risk at the weekend.

"That risk minimises by the passing of time for tomorrow, but if he did play tomorrow, the weekend becomes a bigger risk than it would do, because he's done no training. He's back on the training pitch, but now with us totally.

"??Platt also said he was not surprised Sergio Aguero escaped an FA charge for his two-footed lunge on Chelsea's David Luiz after it was revealed ref Chris Foy and his officials had seen it partially and taken no action at the time.??

"I wasn't surprised, based on the rules the FA have put in place," said Platt. "If the officials have seen it, and there have been precedents set, then no action can be taken. The rules are the rules, we don't make them up. ??

"I don't know whether it's a bit of luck. What is luck? I just think it's a situation that has now gone and I'm not surprised he got off because the rules are there and the officials saw it."??

Micah Richards, who has been out since October and has played just four games this season, could make his long-awaited return for City on the bench tomorrow having trained with the first-team squad for 10 days.

Meanwhile, City are leading the race to sign long-term target Adam Maher in the summer, according to reports from Europe.
