Avalanche fire instructor Joe Sacco

DENVER (AP) a' Colorado Avalanche coach Joe Sacco was fired on Sunday following the group missed the playoffs for the third straight year. The Avs never got on course in the lockout-shortened season and finished last in the Western Conference. Sacco was in his last time in control of Colorado and wound up with a 130-134-30 mark. He'd 12 months left on his commitment. "The firm believes a change of control behind the table will become necessary going forward," general manager Greg Sherman said in a release. "Joe did for this operation for nine times and he is a passionate and hard-working instructor. We appreciate all he's done and wish him the best in the future." Their search will be soon begun by the Avs for a substitute. Sacco spent two months in control of the organization's American Hockey League internet group, the Lake Erie Monsters, before overpowering the Avs in 2009 after the firing of Tony Granato. A former NHL player, Sacco preached a fast-paced style and as a postseason spot was earned by the team the youthful Avalanche was served by it well in his first time. He was a good finalist for the NHL's coach of the year. But Colorado could not replicate that success. Occasions after having a 3-1 reduction to Minnesota on Saturday to shut out the regular season, Sacco was questioned about his future, saying, "We are certainly headed in the right direction." His group was committed to his up-tempo idea. Matt Duchene recently stated that Sacco's message was still getting across. "We have all played the system he is put in place to the most effective of our ability. We've all worked at it," explained Duchene, who finished tied with P.A. Parenteau for the team scoring lead with 43 points. "We are typical still buying in and working." Sacco will soon be back on the table later this week when he brings the U.S. Group at the world championships. Several Avalanche players will be even taken by him with him, including Paul Stastny and Erik Johnson.
